Resources + Wisdom from One Code Newbie to Another
Holding the door open for early-career software engineers.
Code Newbie Chronicles is a space for sharing lessons learned, resources, advice, and support for anyone transitioning into software engineering from a non-traditional background.
Software engineering can feel intimidating for folks without a computer science degree or early exposure to the tech industry — so much so that the process of pivoting jobs is commonly referred to as “breaking into” tech.
This community was developed to hold the door open for early-career software engineers instead. I hope that radical transparency about the enjoyable and tough parts of this career, direct connections to free or low-cost resources for learning, and positivity and encouragement help reduce barriers so that we can eventually get rid of the need to “break-in.” Welcome.
